BANGKOK, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Two blasts went off early Thursday morning at the anti-government rally site in Bangkok, capital cityof Thailand, leaving at least one dead and ten others injured.
According to local media, the bomb was thrown at around 03:00 a.m. local time from outside the gathering of members of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), who have been staging anti-government protests since May 25 at Makkhawan Rangsan bridge near the Government House. The blast injured about ten PAD guards and supporters. Two were reportedly in a critical condition.
After the explosion, the PAD guards stepped up security at the site and were planning to ask the PAD core members to permanently close down Ratchadamnoen road for the safety of the protesters.
About an hour after the bomb attack, a few gun shots were heard near the Government House.
On Thursday morning, a 46-year-old man was found dead at the back of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.
The Commander of the Metropolitan Police's Division One Anan Srihiran said the police were investigating whether the man, who was shot in the back of the head, was from the anti-government rally led by the People's Alliance for Democracy at Government House.
After inspection, the police said that the victim was intoxicated, and there were loud quarrels and about three to four gunshots prior to the incident.
The police continued to collect evidence at the crime scene to identify the gunman.
At about midnight on Wednesday, a bomb was lobbed into the compound of the house of Constitution Court judge Jaral Phakdeethanakul, causing some damages.
No one was injured in the attack, the police said, adding that the explosion caused a 50-cm-wide and 25-cm-deep hole in the lawn and shattered some window glasses as well as damaging an air-condition unit.
Jaral was quoted by the Nation, a local newspaper as saying that he heard something falling on the roof and heard an explosion two minutes later.
