LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama are still neck and neck in the national polls and only attending their first face-to-face debate Friday night, but the race for donations to support their campaigns is a different story.
At least in California, the state that is traditionally democrat-dominated and often generate more money than any other states to national campaigns in the country, Democrat Obama is claiming a landslide victory over his Republican rival in terms of raising campaign donations.
Deep-pocketed Silicon Valley executives like those at Google and Yahoo are among big money donors to Obama, who is also the clear favorite of the entertainment industry because Hollywood stars typically support the Democratic Party.
According to a latest report by local television channel NBC4, Obama has raised more than 45 millions U.S. dollars in California, more than double what McCain has raised.
Meanwhile, McCain appears to be the favorite for big business people as real estate developer Donald Bren and car dealership owner Fletcher Jones have both given his maximum contributions under the law.
